Hold your mouth. Don't speak. Even when you really really want to. Why? You could hurt someone unintended. Not to mention, you don't want to be that person.
Your words speak life and death, cut like a knife, and heal like medicine. Be careful as to what you are saying.
Although the tongue is a little muscle, it packs the hardest heaviest punch. See how great a forest burns a little fire kindles! The tongue is a fire, a world of bullets hitting the innocent. The tongue defiles the whole body and sets on fire the course of division among even your closest relationships. It is set on fire by hell.
It is said that sticks and stones may break my bones but words could never hurt me.
Have you been hurt by words? Have you ever wished someone could take back somethings they have said?
Then you know what it feels like to be the target of someone's spit fire from their mouth. This is why I caution you to say less and listen more. Even gossip and rumors are a silent behind the scene perpetrator of the tongue's maliciousness. Do you see the ones who have spoken against you as vicious? Imagine if the other person at the end of your speech were to get the message of what you spoke on them. How would they then see you? Probably as you have seen others that have done the same. I challenge you to try to tame the tongue. In doing so, you would be saving others from the words that wound and leave a scar; not one seen but one felt.

James 3:5-12 NKJV
Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh.
Ephesians 4:29 NKJV
Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary [a]edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers
James 1:19 NKJV
So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;
1 Peter 3:10 NKJV
For “He who would love life
And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit
Matthew 15:11 NKJV
Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.”
